Hot Spot from Collar

The Significance of Having a Waterproof Collar

Whether your dog is walking in the rain, swimming in the lake, or getting a bath it is important to understand the potential consequences of wearing a traditional Nylon or Polyester collar. When traditional Nylon or Polyester collars become wet they can create the perfect environment for the formation of a skin infection which can result in a hot spot. A hot spot can cause lethargy, inappetence and fever depending upon the severity. Additionally, they can harvest bacteria right in the collar which can lead to foul odors.

I would know first hand. Our dog, Bruce, suffered from a hot spot (pictured above) while playing in the lake and wearing a traditional nylon collar. This resulted in an emergency vet visit on a Sunday night. Thankfully we were able to get the infection under control but at a cost to poor Bruce.

If your pup is going to be getting wet; our water proof collars are the perfect solution for you. You do not have to worry about the collar getting soaked and causing irritation or nasty odors like you would have with a traditional collar. On top of that, a waterproof collar can easily be wiped cleaned and is still extremely comfortable for your dog.
